DVD/CD ROM faults are very common. If you cannot read some or all
media, you cannot write to certain media or the draw will not eject or will not
stay in then the drive is probably faulty. Whenever you push a cd disk onto the
centre ring of the tray you should support it by putting you hand underneath the
draw. If you just push the disk onto the centre ring by pushing from above then the
draw guide rails will probably bend over a period of time damaging the drive.
The optics can become distorted if touched. Usually, the only fix to a defective
optical drive is its replacement. An exact replacement will usually need to be made
so that the front facia will match the original.
